The assignment was to create a simple, impactful poster that speaks about two opposites. I chose to address the issue of white privilege. The symbolism of the lace and stitched leather not only represent skin tones but is a contrast of qualities that are also attributed to people such as delicate vs. rough, excellence vs. the ordinary. Despite the poster drawing from supposedly antiquated ideas, the two figures stand side by side in the present coexisting. The greatest ideal is not only for coexistence but to truly acknowledge the other’s point of view. If only we could listen.
